FALSE FLAGS IN THE MEANTIME OF IRAN-USA TALKS HAVE ISRAELI SMELL

The relationship between Iran and the United States has been perhaps the most complex case in the history of world diplomacy. Even the case of negotiations and relations between the United States and China has not been so complicated and confusing.

The case of the claims and considerations of this relationship is no longer limited to the two countries, and many actors with different motives have been directly and indirectly, overtly and covertly involved, in a way, even this case has entered into controversy and rivalry between groups and internal factions of countries.

With Trump gone, neither Iran nor the United States, but the Saudis, Israelis, Europeans, and all the actors on the international stage are waiting to see what decision the Biden government and Iran will make for JCPOA, starting new round of negotiations or processing the previous negotiations. Undoubtedly, the Iranian opposition, like the Saudis and the Israelis, will do their best to prevent the past situation from taking shape, and at least, and the current situation will remain silent, so that in the next presidential election, they will have better conditions to implement their plans. In contrast, Iran and Europe are doing their best to change the situation before Trump takes office.

In the midst of a breathtaking time when all the actors in the Iran-US relationship were looking for the first signs of the future status of the case, the interview of Daniel Benaim, a member of the Democrat party who had a history of collaborating in negotiations, was published on Jacobin website and were republished in other websites, and almost everyone who followed the Iran-West negotiation process for any reason focused on the article so that they could use it to analyze the future. All readers of the website concluded that Biden’s foreign policy team sought to assess Iran’s reaction to the proposals for future negotiations, but what surprised analysts was a part of an article attributed to Daniel Benaim stating that the United States was ready to raise the issue of MEK as a negotiated option and move members of the group, who recently moved to Albania, to Eritrea in Africa to prove their friendship.

Undoubtedly, in recent years, Iran has formally and unofficially stated that its main issue is the lifting of sanctions promised in previous negotiations, and it is unlikely that the MEK will have such credibility and status that the United States would have imagined that it would be provocative for Iranian officials to put it on the negotiating table. Therefore, these two points came to mind that either a new issue has been reopened in the case or there are issues behind the publication of this article.

At first, the authenticity of the article was questioned, that by a surprise it was fake and it revealed that the person, organization or government that had attempted to publish the news had published the interview under the name of Daniel Benaim by falsifying the address of Jacobin’s website. Although no US or Iranian official has yet commented on the matter, and it has not been interesting or provocative for the Iranian press to cover it. I could not get a response from US and Iranian officials, but with insistence, I was able to establish contact with a former member of the Iranian diplomatic official who works in the Council of Foreign Relations of Iran and receive an interesting answer. In his opinion, this was done by the Israelis or the Saudis.

According to this retired official, it does not matter to Iran whether the MEK stays in Albania or transferred to Eritrea, Angola, Riyadh or the heart of the New York, it is important for Iran to achieve the previous negotiating demands, he believes that it is the Israelis who want to make negotiations useless and stop Iran’s demands by raising false and absurd issues. Although Iran’s foreign policy team may be able to take action on the individual or organization or government that appears to have fabricated the news, it shows that all other parties are seeking to influence the future talks in any way possible.

Fake Jacobin’s article showed that what would occur won’t happen behind the negotiating table, but it will happen by hidden games in which not two but more than seven players are moving pieces in this worldwide chess game. Journalists and media activists have no choice but to wait for the future.
