He was born in 1947 in a semi-prosperous family in Mashhad. From high school, he attended religious meetings and was interested in religious studies. After the bloody uprising of June 5, 1963, he turned to politics and found his interest in religion, social and political dimensions. He came to Tehran for university studies and received a bachelor’s degree in mechanics from the Institute of Technology. During his student years, he also participated in political debates while attending religious meetings. At the end of his university studies, by Ebrahim Mohammadzadeh, he started his connection with the Mojahedin Khalq Organization and became active in it.
After the strike in September 1971, he went to military service under the leadership of the organization, but in March of the same year, again on the orders of the organization, he escaped from the service and went into secret life. From the very beginning, he showed his talent and first came under the responsibility of Majid Sharif Vaqhefi and then Bahram Aram. Between June and January 1953, he was in charge of the Isfahan branch. Taher Rahimi, at times, was responsible for some important members of the organization such as Khalil Dezfuli, Morteza Kashani, Ebrahim Davar, Mohsen and Hossein Siah Kolah. Some of the explosions and assassinations of the organization, in which Taher Rahimi played a role, were as follows: Explosion in the American Industrial Pavilion, Tehran International Exhibition, Explosion of Shahriar-Tarasht power tower, Explosion in the British Embassy, Explosion in the headquarters of the University of Technology ( Aria Mehr), the assassination of “Brigadier General Reza Zandipour”, the head of the Joint Anti-Sabotage Committee, the assassination of two US military advisers in Iran, “Colonel Schefer” and “Colonel Turner” and the failed assassination of Morteza Samadieh Labbaf.
In expressing the trend of his political thought, he stated that, at the beginning of his political activity, he believed in the establishment of an “Islamic system” and after changing his ideology and belief in a Marxist ideology, he called for the establishment of a “People’s Democratic Republic”.
Organizationally, Taher Rahimi was one of the cadres next to the center of the organization, who, if he continued to be present in the organization (and was not arrested), would definitely be at the center of the organization instead of Hossein Siah Kolah; Of course, it is also important to note that he has recently objected to the escalation of armed operations; That is why Bahram Aram decided to send him abroad.
After Kazemian was arrested, he revealed his appointment with Taher Rahimi, which led to his arrest and Manizheh Ashrafzadeh Kermani on July 24, 1975. After being convicted in the Shah’s military court, Taher Rahimi was finally executed on January 24, 1976.
