In order to investigate the various aspects of the crimes of the terrorist group of the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) in the genocide of the Iraqi Kurds in 1991 and cooperation with Saddam in the massacre of the people of Iran, the Terrorspring Foundation organized an international conference on “Crime against humanity: Genocide of Iraqi Kurds by the MEK” on 1st and 2nd of March 2023. On the first day of this international conference, speakers from Iran, Iraq and Italy gave speeches, they were Dr. Alireza Abedini, head of the Yassin think tank from Iran, Mr. Ibrahim al-Seraj, head of the Association for the Defense of Journalists’ Rights from Iraq, Professor Lorenzo Maria Pacini, a university professor and the representative of Unidolomiti University from Italy, Mrs. Maria Morigi, writer, archaeologist and researcher of the history of religions from Italy, and Mr. Mohammad Pouladvand, an international relations expert from Terrorspring Institute from Iran. In the following article, we will give a brief description of the speeches of these people.
The Mujahedin-e Khalq organization was established in 1965. Their goal was described as fighting against global imperialism, especially America, and fighting against the colonialists of the Eastern and Western blocs, and their approach was armed fighting. With the victory of the Islamic revolution, the leaders of the organization, by nurturing the desire for power and monopolization to achieve absolute power and government, stand against the people and the people’s choice and neither accepted the Islamic Republic of Iran nor voted for the constitution. With the processes of brainwashing and changing the ideology from Islamic extremism to Marxism, they made their members unquestioningly obedient to their orders and started blind assassinations, which are known among themselves as engineering operations. These brutal assassinations targeted and killed more than 13 thousand Iranian citizens, including the president and prime minister of Iran, Mohammad Ali Rajaee, and Mohammad Bahonar, head of the judiciary, Ayatollah Beheshti, a number of MPs, ministers and religious scholars that they were assassinated by this terrorist group. After failing to gain power and losing their social base in Iran and the invasion of the Iraqi Baath regime, they sought refuge with Saddam and stood against their people and country and served the enemy. The MEK attacked their country in Operation Forough Javidan and massacred a large number of ordinary people that at the end faced the resistance of Iran’s armed forces in an operation called Mersad and which they hit hard from Iran’s armed forces and fled to Iraq with many casualties.
After the Forough Javidan operation and in the First Persian Gulf War and in order to weaken Saddam’s Baath regime, Iraqi Kurds who were chemically bombed by Saddam’s army in Halabja and Khurmal three years before, seized the opportunity to avenge bloodshed, and took over the Kurdish regions. The Kurds were able to take control of the cities of Mosul and Sulaymaniyah and then advanced towards cities such as Tuz, Kifri and Jalula. It was enough for the Kurds to cross the Suleiman Bey highway and reach the main road and advance towards Baghdad. A week after the Kurdish forces took control of the northern cities of Iraq, the MEK forces entered Kirkuk wearing Kurdish clothing and posters of Masoud Barezani and Jalal Talebani. At this stage, the so-called Liberation Army of the MEK carried out “Morvarid 1 and 2” operations and suppressed the people, and the Peshmerga prevented them from advancing in various cities. The MEK surprised the Kurdish militias and Peshmerga of Kirkuk and caused the Baathist government to regain control of the city of Kirkuk, during which, according to Iraqi Kurdish forces, hundreds of Kurdish residents of Kirkuk were massacred by the members of the MEK. It is estimated that more than 4,000 Kurds lost their lives at the hands of the MEK in Morvarid operations 1 and 2.
The first speaker of the Crimes Against Humanity Conference: Genocide of Iraqi Kurds by MEK was Dr. Alireza Abedini, the head of Yassin think tank from Iran. He started his speech regarding the killing of Iraqi Kurds in Morvarid operations 1 and 2 and analyzed the theories of MEK in the killing of innocent people in Iran and Iraq and also discussed the various services of MEK terrorists to the terrorist group of ISIS and In the end, he raised the question that, considering the high number of killings of Iraqi Kurds by MEK terrorists, why are some Kurdish groups still cooperating with this terrorist group, and he requested the answer to this question from the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
The second speaker of the Crime Against Humanity Conference: The Genocide of the Iraqi Kurds by the MEK was Dr. Ibrahim Al-Seraj, the head of the Association for the Defense of Journalists’ Rights from Iraq. In his speech, he pointed out that the MEK has committed crimes against humanity both in Iraq and in the Kurdistan Region. Saddam’s criminal regime hired them to carry out these killings against Iraqis, both in the southern and central provinces of Iraq and even in the Kurdistan region, and committed massacres against humanity and did serious aggressions. The crimes committed by this organization are crimes against humanity and it has been a war crime against respected civilians, whether women, children or the elderly people. We must know that the European Union is to blame for allowing these criminals to reside in Europe. The harm of these terrorists is no less than ISIS, even they are worse than ISIS, so the officials and authorities should do legal follow-up and bring MEK to justice.
The third speaker on the first day of the Crime Against Humanity Conference: The Genocide of Iraqi Kurds by the MEK was Professor Lorenzo Maria Pacini, a university professor and representative of Unidolomiti University from Italy. In his speech, he mentioned the diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Italy from the past to the present and the two countries’ fight against terrorist acts. He discussed the killing of thousands of Iranians, 6 Americans and 4 thousand Iraqi Kurds by MEK terrorists and pointed out the dual relations between the United States and this group, that one day the United States will put this group on the list of terrorist organizations because of the killing of innocent people and removed them from the list of terrorist organizations in 2012 without any reason or warning. He further mentioned the creation of color revolutions in Iran by the United States, the Zionist regime, England and Saudi Arabia, and further discussed the reports of the American and European research institutes about MEK terrorists, which in these reports called terrorist and It has been mentioned that this group is a cult, and he also discussed the torture and execution of the members of this cult by its leaders and pointed out that MEK terrorists, which has violated all human rights laws so far, tortures and executes its members and does not allow them to marry and think about sex. Now, by creating a meeting in the Italian Senate, MEK accuses Iran of violating human rights and raised the question that a group that violates all human rights laws, how can claim human rights?
The fourth speaker on the first day of the Crime Against Humanity Conference: Genocide of Iraqi Kurds by the MEK was Mrs. Maria Morigi, a writer, archaeologist and researcher of the history of religions from Italy. In her speech, she pointed out that the leaders of the MEK took refuge in Paris after Iran’s Islamic Revolution, where they formed their “political umbrella”, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and established a group that had previously sided with the Iraqi army during the Iraq and Iran war (1988-1980). In 1986, when President Mitterrand started talks with Iran for the release of the French hostages in Beirut, France expelled Massoud Rajavi, and they went to Iraq to support Saddam in suppressing the country’s Shias and Kurds. Since the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, the MEK that has the support of US neocons has received training from the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) in the Nevada desert (communication techniques, cryptography, attack techniques and guerrilla operations, etc.). In 2012, the testimony of two Obama administration officials revealed the assassination of five Iranian nuclear scientists (in 2007) by the MEK with the cooperation of the Mossad and the support of American intelligence. Today, the MEK claims the values of secularism and democracy, they talk about women’s freedom, however, considering that the group members cannot use newspapers, radio or television, and that no one can criticize the leader of this cult, we will notice the contradiction in their behavior.
The fifth speaker on the first day of the Crime Against Humanity Conference: The Genocide of Iraqi Kurds by the MEK was Mr. Mohammad Pouladvand, an international relations expert from Terrorspring Institute from Iran. In his speech, he referred to reliable international documents, such as the document published by the RAND Research Institute, which pointed out that the MEK lost their social position and popularity in the eight years of the Iran-Iraq war, because of their support to Saddam. In addition, the leaders of the MEK (Massoud and Maryam Rajavi) have abused the members of the MEK in various ways under the pretext of using a complex brainwashing system called “ideological revolution”. The RAND report, published in the United States, emphasizes that the MEK’s cult-like behavior toward its members includes sexual control, emotional control, and restricted friendships, forced divorce, and separation of children from their parents. Also, the leaders of the MEK also forced confessions from their members to make sure that they did not have any so-called “deviant” sexual thoughts and behaviors. RAND’s comprehensive report shows that MEK leaders (Massoud and Maryam Rajavi) literally exploited members for years by forcing them to work long hours (16-17 hours a day) and avoided them from sleeping. According to this report, the notorious terrorists of the Mujahedin Khalq sometimes used to bring their family members to the MEK camp under the pretext of visiting their relatives, but in the end they prevented the same visitors from leaving.
This was a summary of the first day of the International Crimes Against Humanity Conference: Genocide of the Iraqi Kurds by the MEK, and the summary of the second day of this conference will be mentioned in the next article. The purpose of this conference is to reveal the terrorist face of the MEK to people all over the world, especially the politicians, who should keep in mind that MEK terrorists has committed many crimes in every country where it is established to the innocent people of that country, that the concrete example of which can be seen in Iran and Iraq. We hope that by holding this international conference, we will be able to collect evidence for an international court for a fair trial to condemn the crimes of MEK terrorists, so that it will be a salve for the wounds of the families of the victims of the terrorist acts of this group, who lost their loved ones by this bloodthirsty group, for no reason.
