The MEK is a paramilitary organization that began its activities in Iran in 1965. After the victory of the Iranian Islamic Revolution in 1979, the MEK organization, which claimed to have achieved the Islamic Revolution, began a conflict with Iran . Finally, in 1981 the armed struggle against the Islamic Republic of Iran occurred, the MKO declared to take up arms and carried out large and small terrorist operations; more than 17,000 people of the Islamic Republic of Iran were martyred, and the most notable of these actions was the bombing of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Party Office of the Islamic Republic of Iran, where the President, the Prime Minister and the Chief of the Supreme Court of the Islamic Republic of Iran were martyred in these two incidents.
After Iran and Iraq accepted the peace treaty, the MEK attacked Iran with the illusion of conquering Tehran in a few days with Saddam’s support. Immediately after entering Iran, the “People’s Mujahedin” committed heinous actions, such as setting people on fire and hanging them.
One of the greatest betrayals committed against the Iranian people by the MEK was to join forces with the enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which at the time was Iraq or rather the Baathist Party led by Saddam. When Saddam’s regime was overthrown in Iraq, the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK) organization was left homeless and called on America and Israel, sworn enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to find new supporters.
Albania became the location chosen by the organization for its base. MEK leaders laid down their arms after finding refuge in Albania, but they did not put aside their enmity towards the Iranian people. Using the ability of social networks, they created a new military formation against Iran and activated in the virtual space to show their hostility towards the people and took many initiatives against the Iranian government and people.
The activities of MEK members can be observed in the 2009 riots, known as the “Petrol Riots” , and in the events of 2022. Meanwhile, the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization has used the IT infrastructure of the Albania and conducted widespread attacks against officials of the Islamic Republic, for which Albania is responsible for providing its IT infrastructure to the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization.
The organization uses the cyber infrastructure of this country and has tried and is still trying to attack officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In classical warfare, attacks were territorial and physical, but in soft warfare these are attacks on the thoughts and ideas of opponents of the Islamic Republic, particularly from the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization. Therefore, the Iranian people should take countermeasures when the MEK has always sought war.
Although the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran have never accepted the attack on Albania’s IT infrastructure, they are in a position to act very harshly if this process continues. On the one hand, the spiritual and political support of the Mojahedin-e Khalq organization can endanger the IT infrastructure of Albania, and on the other hand, if such a situation occurs in Albania, the country and the Albanian people will have to face serious problems.
Therefore, Albanian officials and authorities should pay attention to the fact that their country is now in a situation where, if such actions continue, more widespread attacks on the country’s IT infrastructure may occur or major infrastructure in the country will be disrupted .
